South County Housing (SCH) is one of the leading non-profit developers of affordable housing in California’s Silicon Valley and Central Coast Regions. Founded in 1979, SCH has developed over 2000 units of quality affordable housing with nearly 1800 units in the development pipeline comprising a wide variety of development types.  From multifamily apartment developments, to special needs housing facilities, to detached neighborhoods of single family homes for low- and moderate-income families, SCH’s development history reflects a sincere commitment to both addressing community needs and creating economically integrated and viable communities.

However, SCH’s mission extends beyond the creation of housing, but also reflects a deep dedication to the long-term success of the families we serve.  By investing in critical neighborhood services, SCH demonstrates its strong commitment to giving low-income families the tools and opportunities to improve their lives and their neighborhoods.

SCH is has developed a multi-pronged community building approach that involves several unique strategies. These include:

• Implementing a successful mutual self-help home construction program
• Creating homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income families

SCH is organized into five divisions: Real Estate, Neighborhood Development, Administration, Finance, and Communications/Fund Development. It also operates in conjunction with 2 affiliate organizations: South County Property Management Corporation (SCPMC), and South County Community Builders (SCCB).
