What the future holds
Key to South County Housing's community building mission is our ongoing work developing innovative affordable housing communities that respond to local needs. SCH's pipeline of future projects in our four county region include a number of developments of community interest.
The Gilroy Cannery
One exciting example of South County Housing's commitment to building community is the effort to redevelop a 12-acre industrial site in the heart of downtown Gilroy, CA. Once the heart of a bustling agricultural economy, the Gilroy Cannery has been out of use for nearly a decade, but a proposed SCH mixed-use, mixed-income development holds great promise in revitalizing a historic downtown.

Sobrato Transitional Apartments
In response to calls from community leadership to assist the City of Gilroy in creating a permanent shelter for the homeless, South County Housing helped identify an eight-acre site that allowed for space for a shelter facility, the 60 unit Sobrato Transitional Apartments and 13 single family, market-rate homes. SCH has taken the lead in developing the Sobrato Apartments which will help transition homeless families toward permanent housing and economic self-sufficiency.
